PNG and JPG
PNG is a strong choice for high-resolution raster artwork and supports transparent backgrounds. JPG is widely compatible but does not support transparency, so its background may be treated as part of the printed design.
- PNG: use for transparency and pixel artwork
- JPG: use for full rectangular images with no transparency
- Aim for 300 PPI at final size
PDF, SVG, AI, and EPS
These formats can preserve vector curves that remain crisp at different sizes. PDF is also useful for multi-page artwork batches. Save AI files with PDF compatibility so the preview and production workflow can read them reliably.
- SVG: ideal for clean web-native vectors
- PDF: strong handoff format and supports multiple pages
- AI or EPS: useful editable vector originals
PSD
PSD is useful when the original artwork is layered and no vector version exists. Keep important effects, fonts, and linked content intact, and include a high-resolution flattened preview if the design relies on unusual features.
The practical rule
Do not convert a tiny screenshot into a PDF and expect it to become sharp. Send the original, highest-quality source file whenever possible; our team will review it before production.
